U.S. Customs duty and taxes (Update)

UPDATE April 17th 2026

U.S. Shipping Costs (Customs duty and tax)

For all shipments to the United States, we use a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service through Korea Post. This means when your package arrives, there are no surprise customs fees, no paperwork, and no delays — duties are prepaid and handled for you.

Here is a full breakdown of what you pay:

  • Shipping rate at checkout — includes K-packet postage + 10% DDP processing fee + $1.04 + 10% Korean logistics handling
  • 15% U.S. customs duty — collected separately by Korea Post on behalf of U.S. customs and remitted directly. This is not included in the shipping rate shown at checkout but is prepaid as part of the DDP service — you will not be charged again at delivery.

The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Nothing extra at your door.

We've removed the 10% adjustment from product prices. What you see is what it costs.

Update on U.S. Shipping Costs (Customs duty and tax)

For all shipments to the United States, we use a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) service. This means when your package arrives, there are no surprise customs fees, no paperwork to deal with, and no delays at customs, everything is prepaid and handled for you.

Here is a breakdown of the cost to be transparent:

  • 15% U.S. customs duty (this is mandatory)
  • 10% DDP processing fee + $1.04 per order
  • 10% Korean logistics handling fee

Since the implementation in October, we've been covering those extra DDP processing costs so you'd only see the standard 15% duty. But honestly, with the volume we're doing now, we just can't absorb those fees anymore.

We've had to add a 10% adjustment to product prices for U.S. customers. We wish we could add this as a fee at checkout instead (where it would be clearer and more transparent), but Shopify doesn't give us that option. So it has to be built into the product price, which we know isn't ideal.

You're only paying the 15% customs duty + the 10% DDP processing fee. We’re still covering the remaining logistics handling fees.

If these regulations ever change or Shopify finally lets us add these fees properly at checkout, we'll remove that 10% from the prices immediately.

Bottom line: You still get hassle-free delivery with no surprises at your door. We just can't keep subsidizing the processing costs anymore.

On a personal note, we definitely felt the change since the end of de minimis, in the 10 years of Me Dic Al, something we thought never have to go through. But we got through similar hardships and this will pass as well. Not just for us, but also for our U.S. Customers. We know we are just a handmade clothing brand from far away, but you are not numbers for us. It might sound creepy, but we see you ;) we know your name and also while making your order, we know this is for Nick, or this is for Angela~ (not meaning anybody specific of course) But its just important for us to mention, we see you as people that see value in our designs and even through these times buy from us. So for that we are really thankful and we really wish for a change in regulations, so we can get back to normal.
